Universal linear optics
The BBOI team from the Centre for Quantum Photonics of the University of Bristol has demonstrated a single reprogrammable integrated optical circuit that can implement all possible linear optical protocols up to the size of that circuit.
A six-mode universal system has been realized that integrates 15 Mach-Zehnder interferometers controlled though 30 thermo-optic phase actuators.
This system is programmed to implement heralded quantum logic and entangling gates, boson sampling with verification tests, and six-dimensional complex Hadamards.
